One of our favorite routes through Thailand takes in a variety of regions, from the historic city ruins of central Thailand to the lush hills of the north. The first leg visits three of Thailand's UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Ayutthaya, Sukhothai and Kamphaeng Phet, connected by leisurely rides through far-reaching rice fields and banana farms, small villages and rural countryside. The second leg explores the northern hill country around Chiang Mai. Here limestone outcroppings pierce the lush forests and local villagers still wear their colorful traditional tribal clothing in daily life.
